The mission of the Sixth Ward Elementary School counseling program is to provide all students with a data driven and developmentally appropriate school counseling program that meets the needs and interests of the students where they are. The school counselor will provide students with a positive school climate that brings about acceptance, empathy, a growth mindset and perseverance through school wide activities, classroom instruction, small group counseling and individual counseling. In doing so, our students will be equipped to handle present and future situations. By working with other educators, parents/guardians, and the community, the school counselor will advocate for a school environment that will address the academic, social-emotional, and college and career development of all students in order to ensure lifelong empowerment. Students at Sixth Ward Elementary will capitalize on their unique abilities and potential to become successful lifelong learners and make a positive difference in our school and community. Sixth Ward Elementary students are respectful, responsible, and put their best foot forward, regardless of the environment. Students will achieve academic success, display social and emotional growth and will obtain a career that is aligned to their interests and abilities.
